Guides · Japanese teammates
Teammates speak Japanese. You keep up.
When you queue with Japanese-speaking teammates on Asian or Japanese servers, ValComms turns their Japanese speech into Chinese subtitles. Hold your talk key and speak Chinese to get a Japanese translation, copied automatically for game chat.
Get subtitles working first
Follow the setup guide to route team voice into ValComms. When teammates speak Japanese, the overlay shows large Chinese text with the Japanese original in small text underneath.
English and Japanese are the two languages ValComms is tuned for most.
Reply in Chinese, send Japanese
- Set the communication language to Japanese in the client.
- Hold your bound talk key, speak Chinese, release and wait for the translation.
- With automatic copying on, open game chat and press Ctrl + V.
Translated speech plays locally for you only; it does not enter team voice automatically.
Calls teammates can act on
Keep callouts short: location, then number, then action — for example “Two on B, I’ll rotate.” One idea per sentence translates more reliably and is easier to follow. See more in the callout phrases.
Keep the overlay out of the way
Adjust overlay opacity, width and font size, then press Ctrl+Alt+Q to lock it so the mouse passes through. Use the hotkey to review the last 5 lines if you missed one.
What affects results
Overlapping speakers, background music, low microphone volume, accents and network conditions all affect recognition and translation. Use the original audio and match context for important tactical calls; translations support understanding.
